Aloha everyone!
It's Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, she asks a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Then everyone else asks a simple question of their own blog for others to answer.
The question for this week is: Do you think it is possible for animals to "communicate" with humans? I talk to Muffin all of the time and I think she understands quite a bit of what I tell her. (Dogs supposedly have an even greater capacity of the English language--it's MY opinion that cats have just a great of an ability--they just don't want any of us to know it!!!) Anyway, what's your opinion? Do you talk to your animals? Do they seem to understand what you are saying?? If you don't have pets, do you have a family member or friend who has pets? Do you think it is possible for animals and humans to communicate? Or is it just a bunch of hooey?? Don't be shy--I want to hear your opinion so leave your comments.
Update: Thanks for everyone who stopped by last week. Seems like we have a lot of happy pets!!! All kinds of pets too!! Also, there are a couple of people who would like to have pets but can't so we can feel for them!! Life is definitely better with fur!!

I think it's possible. My cats look at me sometimes like I'm the crazy one who can't understand what they want. hee hee
Oh, I think it's totally possible. We don't have a pet right now, but Bingo was my boy for years before and after I had my own human child. That doggy could read my emotions and seemed like he pretty much understood what I was whining about most of the time. I miss that little man. But, I think we definitely communicated.
Oh yes, my cats know exactly how to communicate with me, especially when they are hungry or want to go outside.

Growing up, I had cockatoos as pets. They most definitely knew how to communicate with us. One of them was actually potty trained. She would declare "go potty" do her business and then want to come out to play. I also know that when I was having a bad day my feathery friend would sense it and be extra sweet and cuddle and talk to me.

I talk to my cats all of the time and yes I feel they do understand. They connect with my feelings and seem to know when I need the extra comfort from them.
Well if Jasmine doesn't understand me then I am in Big trouble! lol, she certainly seems to as she cocks her head & blinks her eyes.
Totally. My husband told me a story about a parrot who saved a baby's life. The mom was in the other room and the baby started choking and the parrot started saying "Mama, baby, mama, baby." Amazing right?
I talk to my cats all the time and sometimes they even talk back. And I think some of the response lies with the tone of my voice. I think that's also how they know their names. Since they all start with B's (except Oscar)I say each of their names differently and they know who I am talking to. Dogs may seem to have a better grasp on human language, but they also like to please their owners. Cats on the other hand like to please themselves most of the time :)
PS Did you know that cats are now being clicker trained, like dogs and other animals? I want to take the class so bad!
Animals know how to communicate. We just don't understand their language!
